Jamie Smith’s Mabon and Maz O’Connor will be performing in the Darwin Suite at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on Thursday, February 6, from 8pm.
Jamie Smith’s MABON (JSM) and Maz O Connor are two of the most highly accomplished and critically acclaimed artists in Britain today. This double headline show captures the depth and breadth of the two musical cultures – Celtic and English. Both have won plaudits for their live shows.
Their live show is renowned for its energy and dynamism; their inter-celtic music travelling beyond borders to explore the forms and styles of the Celtic traditions and work them anew.
Maz (here performing as a trio) has progressed rapidly up the ranks of young ‘must see’ performers, having been nominated for a 2013 BBC Radio 2 Award, awarded a BBC/EFDSS performing arts fellowship and spent the summer performing music written by Laura Marling with the RSC in Stratford. Support will be provided by Chloe Bix, a Devon-based singer/songwriter.
Tickets are £15 (NUS and under 16s £11), available on 01332 255800.
