Top piano player set for city venue date

The European Union Chamber Orchestra will be returning to Derby’s Assembly Rooms for a concert there on Wednesday, January 23, starting at 7.30pm.

Directed by Hans-Peter Hofmann, the orchestra will include John Lill, one of Britain’s most distinguished and popular pianists, who will play Mozart’s sprightly and sunny concerto K.414.

The European Union Chamber Orchestra’s recent engagements have included performances in the Bath and Cheltenham Festivals, broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and tours to Italy, Spain, Belgium, Holland and Turkey.

The programme for their Derby concert includes Grieg’s spirited suite from Holberg’s time, Tchaikovsky’s passionate Elegy, both written in 1884 and one of Haydn’s most brilliant and imaginative symphonies – No 48 (Maria Theresa).
