Fresh from winning BBC TV’s Strictly Come Dancing with Caroline Flack, professional dancer Pasha Kovalev is returning to Mansfield.
In his new show, which visits the Palace Theatre on June 12, Pasha will be joined by fellow Strictly star, Anya Garnis, plus other sensational dancers.
They promise to transport the audience into the world of ballroom and Latin dance with sequins, breath-taking choreography and amazing costumes.
“I’ve been to Mansfield before with my previous tour and I know the people out there love dancing,” he says. “Dancing in front of a live audience is always a pleasure.”
Pasha Kovalev is passionate about dance and believes his new production’s s appeal will be wide-ranging: “Basically it’s all about dance, but I wanted to make sure that even people who are not fanatical about dance will find something to look at in the show,” he says.
“Life Through Dance is a show about life. Each dance has a different character; each dance has a different emotion, different storyline. All those life moments we run into every single day - like meeting people, falling in love - all of that can be expressed through dance.”
Pasha says that the show is designed to appeal to the whole family, including a variety of dances that people are used to seeing on Strictly, such as ballroom, passionate tangos, dramatic paso dobles and fun jives.
Pasha is equally passionate about dance and choreography. He joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 and danced with actress Chelsee Healey, singer Kimberley Walsh and (now girlfriend) Rachel Riley, of Countdown, before lifting the Strictly trophy last year.
The Latin and ballroom dancer grew up in Russia where he started dancing at the age of eight. In 2001, he moved to the USA with dance partner Anya Garnis and six years later they competed in the American version of So You Think You Can Dance,
