Senior students from Chesterfield’s Academy of Dance senior students dazzled at the MOVE IT National Dance exhibition in London Earls Court Exhibition Centre which hosted some of the most spectacular performances, exciting artists and dance companies from all over the UK.
Chosen at audition, the academy’s students performed three show-stopping routines alongside the likes of Darcy Bussell and performers from West End productions.
More than 50 students performed on the main stage in the professional showcase.
Principals Judith and Rachel Littlewood said: “We are so proud of the girls as they had no rehearsal and were just amazing.”
Routines choreographed by Rachel Littlewood and Karen Banez included the famous Chesterfield High Kicking Showgirls who have performed all over the UK and will also be performing this coming week (April 14-19) at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield.
The Love 2 Dance presentation will showcase the senior school talent whilst giving all pupils from the juniors treading the boards for the first time the chance to take part in a non-stop entertainment packed evening of song and dance.
The Academy of Dance has had a whirlwind year of success this year as principal Rachel Littlewood has been invited to join the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) examination panel as one of the youngest examiners in the association.
Rachel said: “I am so pleased and excited to be representing the IDTA as an examiner. It will be fantastic for all the academy students to have an examiner here in Chesterfield and be able to share in my success and the opportunities it will open for them.”
