The latest Comedy at the Cross Keys event in Belper looks like being a real cracker for stand-up fans.

The gig on Thursday, July 31, will feature three high-calibre comedians performing full previews of their Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows.

Performing at the event will be Adam Rushton, Chris Purchase and Omar Hamdi, plus your regular compere, the event’s organiser James Wallace.

Omar Hamdi (pictured above left) has recently been the tour support comedian for TV star Russell Kane’s big national tour.

He is known across the country as one of the hardest-working and distinctive rising stars of UK comedy. Omar is unique as a high-energy, affable Welsh-Egyptian comic.

Adam Rushton served for five years in the in The Royal Navy before he started in stand up comedy. An award-winning comic, he focuses on stories and cheeky anecdotes about his time in the navy.

The third Edinburgh preview set is from Chris Purchase (pictured above right), a performer, who, in five short years on the scene, has started up his own club and provided tour support for some of the biggest names in the business, not to mention appearing on radio and in two sellout Edinburgh Fringe shows.

James Wallace is a popular and acclaimed comic and compere, and is the man behind the ongoing comedy gigs at the venue.

He said: “The comedy nights at the Cross Keys have been getting even better recently - and they were very good to begin with.

“I urge people to see for themselves what we feel is the best live comedy experience Belper has to offer.”

Omar Hamdi will be on first with his entire hour-long show, followed by 40 minutes from Adam and another full hour show from Chris.

The start time for this feast of comedy is 7.30pm but please arrive in good time to guarantee a seat.

Entry is £4 in advance or £5 on the doors. You can text James Wallace on 07791349205 to book a place. Alternatively, visit the venue or call on 01773 599191.
