Matlock Musical Theatre are to perform Little Shop Of Horrors in May

Matlock Musical Theatre’s members return later this year with the world-renowned musical Little Shop Of Horrors.

After a very successful October pantomime, MMT are treading the boards once again this summer, but this time with something totally “out of this world”.

This family show is a production of firsts for the group: the first full musical after a couple of seasons of very successful compilation shows; the first time this show has hit the area in many years and the first time in nearly 30 years that the society will perform at the Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath.

Little Shop of Horrors follows the hapless plight of Seymour, a downtrodden orphan, who is taken in and given a job by Mr.Mushnik, the owner of a dingy florists in the seedy part of town, Skid Row.

Seymour, lover of strange and interesting things, spends his days berated by his boss, tinkering with his plants and dreaming of his co-worker Audrey. One day, after an eclipse of the sun, Seymour discovers a strange and unusual plant that he names Audrey II.

The question is what will this plant bring him? Fame and fortune or heartache and pain?

MMT are thrilled to have the opportunity to perform at The Grand Pavilion, a stunning local venue, and breathe the magic of musical theatre back into the place.

A recent input of younger blood combined with the experience of longer standing members of the group makes this the ideal show for the company and the venue.

The performances will be supported by a live music combo and promise to be an event not to be missed.

The performances are on Friday, May 16, at 7.30pm and Saturday, May 17, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

The box office is now open with tickets available from Tim and Pauline Clark on 01773 821501.
