Katie Goddard, the new store manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be opening our new Clay Cross store this weekend and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.

“Having worked for Home Bargains for 11 years, working my way up from an in-store team member, this is certainly a special moment and one I’ll cherish for the rest of my career.”

The 15,349 sq ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Kay Adlington, administrator at Clay Cross Foodbank, said: “We are very grateful for this donation, which will help us provide food to many households in our community and support our work to make food poverty something that families won't have to worry about in the future.
