Coronavirus: Chesterfield death toll increases as UK hit by another 633 deaths

Another patient has died after testing positive for coronavirus at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The latest NHS figures show that the town’s death toll now stands at 73 after another patient died within a 24 hour reporting period.

There have been 1,063 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Derbyshire. The city of Derby, classed as a separate area to the county, has 451 cases.

The figures, which could be higher as they don’t include deaths that occurred within carehomes or in the community, were provided by Public Health England as part of its daily breakdown.

Within 24 hours another 633 people have died across the UK after testing positive for the virus. The death toll in England stands at 21,648 after 552 people in the country died.

As the UK enters its sixth week of lockdown, Boris Johnson urged people not to ‘lose patience’ and said he wouldn’t demean the public’s ‘effort and sacrifice’ by lifting the lockdown too soon.
