Broken down lorry stuck on Derbyshire road traps holidaymakers in car

A lorry which has broken down after getting stuck while reversing down a narrow Derbyshire road, left holidaymakers trapped in their car.

Shocking pictures show a lorry, which is believed to be an oil delivery tanker, after it broke down on The Bank in Bonsall, Matlock earlier this morning (Friday, July 31).

The vehicle is reported to have broken down after the driver burnt the clutch out while trying to reverse up the narrow hill, blocking the road and leaving a car with holiday makers inside trapped on their driveway.

Derbyshire County Council highway workers are confirmed to be on the scene and are diverting traffic away from the area.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid The Bank as the lorry remains stuck and blocking the road in both directions.

The people who were previously trapped inside their vehicle because of the lorry, have now been freed.
