Cyclist seriously injured in HGV smash on A38

Police were called to reports of a serious collision on the A38 between Ripley and the Watchorn island at 5.20am.
The cyclist, a 44-year-old man, has been taken to the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, with serious injuries.

Hide AdThe driver of the HGV, a 34-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The road remains closed at this time and police advise people to use alternative routes.
