Police found cannabis plants in car after crash near Chesterfield

Chesterfield Magistrates heard police were called to the incident on the A617 at Hasland on November 20.
While questioning driver Robert Sakaj, 28, officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis and found 17 plants in in the car, said prosecutor Michael Little.

Hide AdDefending, Palbir Singh said Sakaj, of Hob Moor Road, Birmingham, had borrowed the car after an emergency call from a relative. “He knew the cannabis was in the car but said it did not belong to him,” he added.
Sakaj admitted possession of cannabis, and driving without a licence and insurance. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge and given a six-month driving ban.
