Range Rover wrecked in M1 smash near Chesterfield

A Range Rover was left mangled after a crash involving a van on the M1 near Chesterfield.

The exit slip road was closed by the emergency services after the smash between the Range Rover and a Mercedes Sprinter van at junction 29 of the M1 southbound just after 7pm on Monday night (November 30).

Both vehicles were left badly damaged in the incident, but police said both drivers only sustained minor injuries.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: "We were called to the incident at 6.47pm to a collision between a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Range Rover.

"Minor injuries to both drivers only."

A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent two paramedics in ambulance cars, two crewed ambulances, our Hazardous Area Response Team and responders from the air ambulance were also in attendance.

"We treated patients on scene and transported one patient to Chesterfield Royal Hospital."
