Police were called to reports of the fight, involving 20 people, outside the Spotted Frog pub at about 10.15pm on Sunday, August 30.

Pub owner Trevor Marples says he has been studying CCTV of the incident closely and licensing bosses had been happy with the pub’s handling of the incident.

“The incident broke out, outside the pub on Chester Street, with two people suffering facial injuries.

“Both the police and licensing authority have concluded that the matter was handled well in spite of the circumstances.

“It is such a shame when a small minority spoil it for the rest, especially when so much time and effort as been put in to creating a pleasant and safe environment in the current climate.”
