A report was also received separately from the parent of the child, who did not have the details of the driver, and the two reports were not linked.

Following the collision officers from Bolsover and Clowne Police SNT put up an appeal, with images of two men, but took it down later as the men were already identified .

A spokesperson for Bolsover and Clowne Police SNT said: “The appeal was put out with the best of intentions, and once we realised the matter had been resolved and was not a non-stop collision, the post was taken down. We would like to thank everyone who responded to the appeal but would urge people not to continue comment or share on social media.”
