Major road near Chesterfield closed after crash

The A61 is closed near Chesterfield this morning after a crash.

Derbyshire police said the road was closed at Boshaws roundabout after a two-car collision.

A force spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.57am to report a collision on the A61 Dronfield bypass between a Nissan Qashqai and a Nissan Juke.

"The Juke was reported to be on its roof and the driver is understood to have minor injuries.”

“The road is currently closed from Boshaws roundabout and is likely to remain so for a couple of hours, whilst vehicle recovery is arranged.”

Victoria Lowe tweeted to say motorists should avoid the bypass north of Chesterfield after the incident.

She said: “Avoid Dronfield Bypass from Bowshaws to Whittington Moor.”
