Fleetwood boss Pressley happy with a point against Spireites

The 0-0 draw did little to help either side’s relegation fears but it did end a run of three straight defeats for Pressley’s men as they, like the Spireites, continue to hover just outside the bottom four.

And having put out a very attacking line-up, Pressley felt all that was needed from his side was better decisions in the final third.

He said: “We were very positive all week with how we were going to play today.

“We settled on the four at the back with two wing-backs and the man in behind three strikers as we came here to win the game and score goals.

“In the end we created lots of good moments but our final ball or final decision let us down. We countered really well and had some great opportunities and I was pleased with how brave we were in many of the things we did today.

“We were trying to win today with what was probably the team with the smallest average height in history. We were a very small team and we had to be brave which the players were.”

With just eight games now remaining, points are crucial for any side in the relegation dogfight and Pressley was keen not to underestimate the importance of the draw at the Proact.

He added: “This wasn’t a line-up to come and settle for a point. At this stage we have to win games and be positive in our play, which I felt we were and I think there were a lot of plusses.

“It was important to end our losing run and a point away from home is always good. We’ve also got a lot of injuries and had to use several young players but they did themselves proud.”
