Match report: Hucknall Town 0 Heanor Town 1
The hosts started brightly and almost took the lead inside the opening five minutes; Heanor debutant Sam Gilbert produced a fine save to keep Sam Sims’ effort out before Aaaron Short saw his header hit the crossbar.
In a first half with few chances, Tom Batterham and Josh Craddock came closest for the Lions, both players seeing their shots saved by the Hucknall ‘keeper.

Hide AdThe second half failed to liven the game and Hucknall came close to breaking the deadlock when substitute Rory Smith’s shot took a deflection before hitting the crossbar.
That escape was just what the Lions needed and with ten minutes remaining, they scored the game’s winner.
Lewis Weaver received the ball on the right-wing before cutting inside onto his left foot and finding the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area. It was Weaver’s third goal in as many goals since his arrival from Sherwood Colliery.
The hosts huffed and puffed but were unable to trouble Gilbert in the Heanor goal as the Lions came away with a hard-fought win.
