Newton George and Dragon enjoy crushing win as Chesterfield Sunday League returns

It saw Newton George and Dragon take on Hasland Working Men’s Club in the only game played in HKL ONE and in it the former showed no sign of ring rustiness, as they raced to an emphatic 9-1 victory.

Hasland had no answer to their hosts superb attacking display as both Lewis Macaskill and Scott Vardy helped themselves to hat tricks with Nathan Hadley hitting a brace and Ryan Hadley adding goal number nine.

In HKL TWO Brampton Moor Rovers visited Hillstown Miners Welfare to take on Glapwell Gladiators and thanks to a superb hat trick from debutant Elliott Nunn, recently signed from New Whitt Social and a goal from Liam Moore they eased to a 4-1 victory that moved them level on points with leaders Midland.

AFC Newbold extended their lead at the top of HKL THREE to four points on the back of a 5-2 win at Green Utd. Green, Still looking looking to pick up their first point of the season battled bravely with Michael Lettall and Kyle Perrins both finding the back of Newbold’s net to give them a 2-1 lead at one stage however at the other end Callum Featherstone hit a treble, Callum Davison and Liam Hendley one apiece to eventually secure the points for their side.

In HKL FOUR Clay Cross United’s search for a league win continued after opponents Butchers Arms kept their first clean sheet of the season and scored twice to claim the three points on offer. Elliott Barker and Brad Preece were the goalscorers for Butchers. Arkwright Town travelled to Stonelow Road to take on Dronfield Town and their journey proved to be well worth it as they returned home with the three points having secured a 5-1 victory.

In HKL FIVE it was North Wingfield derby day as leaders Gate Inn took on rivals North Wingfield Working Men’s Club and true to form duly beat them 4-0. On target in the win were Tom Torrington, Joel Frakes, John Turner and Rhys Wallhead who’s goals ensure Gate have the Wingfield bragging rights, for now at least.

In HKL SIX an eight goal game at Brookfield School went the way of hosts Newbold Community Football Training Youth who ran out 5-3 winners over AFC Castle. For Castle Danny Stokes did hit a hat trick however two goals each from Liam Hall and Ben Burrell plus one from Callum Barnett earned Newbold the victory. Will Holmes was on target twice as Palterton Sporting Club recorded a 4-0 win over Spartans Reserves along with Pete Ellis and Craig Walters who both scored once.
