Hide AdBilly Heath made five changes, bringing in Adam Curry in for his debut in defence, while Tom Platt, Josh Clackstone, David Lynch and Richard Peniket all started.
Callum Chettle and Reece Styche dropped to the bench.
Hereford were ahead on 18 minutes when Sam Ramsbottom was unable to hold onto the ball and Mike Symons took advantage.
Tom Owen-Evans then hit the bar and George Lloyd struck the post with the rebound as Hereford went hunting a second.
