Speed merchant Rachel posts bronze finish in Moonraker Middleton 10k

Rachel Chatwin’s great speed is being put to good use this season and she marked her good form by finishing as the third lady and 30th overall at the Moonraker Middleton 10K from a field of over 115 runners.

She then impressed in the Black Knight Charge trail six-miler, coming home 26th from 130 runners.

In the Yorkshire Wolds Half Marathon Steve Radcliffe finished in a time of two hours, two minutes and ten seconds, while Hayley Errington came home in 2.17.

Will Tighe of the Junior Section, had a cracking Junior race at the local Meerbrook 15k, shaving a full minute off his time from last year, and taking first place.

At the penultimate Staffordshire Moorlands Summer Series race held at the scenic Rudyard Lake, Elliot Meylan and Will Tighe from the junior section showed their form by taking first and second in their event, while Will’s younger brother James, taking part in the Fun Run, romped home in a creditable third place from a sizeable field of almost 50 youngsters.

The popular Goyts Moss Fell Race, a particularly tough seven-mile race held from Derbyshire Bridge and taking in several testing climbs, attracted a sizeable field of 130 runners.

Buxton AC was well represented with Jason Bennett continuing his great form to finish in 16th place, followed by Mark Pursell 21st, Jon Sewell 29th, Darran Hawkins 38th, Pete Bailey 68th, Pete Stubbington 97th, and Helen Brunt 104th.

The inaugural Goyt Valley Duathlon, open to members of High Peak Tri Club and Buxton AC, took place last weekend.

Coming home in a clear first position, after a 5K run, 18K cycle followed by a 3K run, was Tri Club’s David Heathcote, while Buxton AC’s Mark Pursell finished in third place.
