Exile Music Festival will take place in a wooded valley near Darley Dale over the weekend of June 22 to 24.
This family-friendly event on private land at Sabine Hay will feature an eclectic group of performers such as 3 Daft Monkeys, Katie Spencer, The Herron Brothers, and The Idolins to name but a few.
Headliners 3 Daft Monkeys have gained themselves a large and loyal cult following. Their music is hard to pigeon-hole, mixing and crossing many musical genres from Celtic, Klezmer and Gypsy to Latin, ska, dub reggae and even a hint of Shostakovich.
“Exile Introduces” is the festival’s new initiative to showcase young, upcoming musicians. The six competition finalists will perform on the Sunday afternoon, with the winner receiving a paid gig at next year’s event.
Aside from the music, there’s plenty to do; guided walks with the promise of an ice cream stop en-route, various activities for the kids including story telling, games and a fancy dress parade.
Several traders will be present to tempt you with their wares. If retail therapy is your thing, you’ll certainly enjoy browsing the stalls for that must-read novel, ethnic giftware or even a fetching waistcoat. As usual Oxfam set up their pop-up shop - a real Aladdin’s Cave of things you absolutely can’t do without!
The bar is hosted by The Fishpond, so festival-goers can be assured of a well-stocked, reasonably priced bar.
At just £60 for a weekend ticket, including camping, this little Festival should definitely be on your summer calendar!
